List of Automotive Websites
Over two million car and motorcycle websites, labelled by what they do: dealers and marketplaces, parts shops, repair garages, rentals, insurance, car media and enthusiast clubs. Country and popularity band on every row.
How many automotive websites exist?
Cars generate an enormous local web: every garage, dealer, tyre shop and driving school has a site. In our database of over 120 million domains, automotive is one of the larger consumer categories. There are two counts, and the difference is worth understanding before you buy.

Automotive subcategories (IAB Tier 2)
96% of automotive domains carry one of 16 Tier 2 groups. We arrange them by the stage of car ownership, because that is how most buyers think about targeting. Counts are full-database totals.
Buying a vehicle
Dealers, marketplaces, brand sites and buyer research.
Owning and maintaining
Garages, body shops, tyre centres, parts stores and breakdown services. The largest block by far.
Using and insuring
Car hire, leasing, insurance, navigation and in-car tech.
Two wheels and enthusiasm
Motorcycle dealers and clubs, scooter shops, tuning, car clubs and enthusiast media.
Tier 3 groups you can filter to
Auto Type, Auto Body Styles and Auto Technology split further. Among popular automotive sites, Classic Cars, Luxury Cars and Green Vehicles are the largest Tier 3 groups.
Kinds of automotive websites in the list
Tier 2 tells you the topic. Site type tells you whether a domain is a likely customer, a publisher to advertise on, or a partner. These are the main kinds inside the category, roughly in the order a car buyer meets them.
Dealers
Franchise and independent dealers, used car lots and dealer groups. Numerous and local, with stock pages that change daily. The core target for automotive software.
Marketplaces
National listing sites and classifieds for cars and bikes. Few, very large, and the main inventory for automotive advertising.
Manufacturers and importers
Brand sites, national importer sites and model microsites. High authority, often with a separate domain per country.
Garages and service
Repair shops, body shops, tyre centres, MOT and inspection stations, detailing and glass repair. The biggest local business segment in the category.
Parts and accessories
Online parts stores, catalogues, OEM parts portals and accessory brands. Strong for e-commerce and affiliate partnerships.
Media and clubs
Car magazines, review sites, video channels, owners' clubs and forums. Engaged audiences that suit brand campaigns.
Automotive websites by country
Car markets are national: registration rules, dealer networks and marketplaces all stop at the border. These are the country endings with the most domains tagged Automotive & Transportation. Many dealers and garages also use .com, which the country field helps place in the right market.
| Ending | Domains | Ending | Domains |
|---|---|---|---|
| .de | 317,725 | .pl | 43,397 |
| .uk | 132,498 | .au | 43,077 |
| .ru | 105,994 | .ch | 41,528 |
| .fr | 74,128 | .es | 29,981 |
| .nl | 70,841 | .ca | 24,830 |
| .br | 60,301 | .cz | 23,860 |
Germany leads by far
The .de ending holds more automotive sites than the next two country endings combined, reflecting a dense network of dealers, workshops and suppliers. See Germany domains.
Popular sites by country
Among the 300,000 most popular domains with a known country, automotive sites are led by the United States (549), Germany (365), the United Kingdom (348) and France (338).
Fast-growing markets
India (155) and Poland (142) both have home-grown car marketplaces in the very top popularity band, a sign of large online car-buying audiences. See India domains.
Who buys a list of automotive websites
Automotive is one of the biggest advertising verticals, and its supplier market is huge. These are the buyers we see most often. Some want a handful of national marketplaces to advertise on; others want every independent garage in a country as a sales lead. The same file serves both.
Car brands and their agencies
Run model launches on sites that match the body style or vehicle type, from SUVs to electric cars, in each market.
Dealer software vendors
Find dealers and dealer groups that need inventory tools, websites, CRM or financing integrations. A typical sales intelligence list.
Insurers and lenders
Reach people researching or buying a car with insurance, loans and leasing offers.
Parts distributors
Map independent garages and parts shops per region for wholesale and B2B outreach.
Adtech and contextual platforms
Label automotive inventory with IAB tiers for contextual targeting and private marketplace deals.
Analysts and investors
Count dealers, garages or EV sites per country to track market structure and the shift to electric. See market research.
The three questions automotive buyers ask first
Is it current?
Dealers open, close and change brands all the time. New domains are categorized daily and every other domain is refreshed monthly, so the list follows the market instead of lagging a year behind.
Is it local enough?
A national campaign needs national sites. Country field plus domain ending lets you build one file per market and still keep a worldwide view.
Is it safe for my brand?
Every row also carries the filtering categories, so sites that mix cars with risky content can be removed before a campaign goes live. See brand safety.
Automotive audience personas
Persona tags describe the audience a site attracts. Counts across the full database:
Example automotive segments
Segments buyers often build from the list, using only the columns described on this page. Each one can be delivered as its own file or as a tag on a combined file.
EV research audience
Green Vehicles and Auto Technology, plus car media sites, in the top popularity bands. For charging networks, energy providers and EV brands.
Independent garages, one country
Auto Repair and Auto Parts with a single country, sorted by popularity band. For parts wholesalers and workshop software.
Premium buyers
Luxury Cars, Performance Cars and Classic Cars in Tier 3. For watches, travel and financial services that want affluent car fans.
Two-wheel market map
Motorcycles and Scooters by country. For helmet and gear brands, insurers and dealer networks.
Rental and mobility
Auto Rentals plus the Travel tag. For travel insurers, booking tools and fleet services.
Commercial vehicles
Commercial Trucks, Van and Pickup Trucks. For fleet telematics, financing and B2B equipment suppliers.
Segments that sit next to automotive
Some car-related sites live in other parts of the taxonomy. Buyers often add them to an automotive list, as separate tags so results can still be reported per segment.
| Segment | Domains | Why add it |
|---|---|---|
| Sports > Auto Racing | 90,452 | Motorsport series, teams, karting tracks and racing news reach the most passionate car fans |
| Automotive & Transportation tag, outside IAB Automotive | Around 925,000 | Logistics, transport services and travel sites for fleet and mobility campaigns |
| Marketplaces / Classifieds / Auctions tag | 168,886 | General classifieds and auction sites where many used cars are sold |
| Auto Insurance with Financial Services tag | Part of 66,196 | Comparison and insurer sites for finance-led campaigns |

Quality checks on the automotive list
Automotive has its own sources of noise, from transport sites to parked car names. This is how we keep the list usable for campaigns and sales teams.
Transport kept apart
Parcel carriers, airlines and rail sites carry the transport tag, but not the IAB Automotive category, so a car list stays about cars.
Classifieds handled
General marketplaces with a car section are tagged, not counted as automotive by default. You decide whether to add them.
Parked domains excluded
Car-sounding parked and for-sale domains sit in their own category and do not inflate the count.
Rechecks after launch
New dealer and garage sites are checked again after a week and after a month, as stock and service pages appear.
Monthly refresh
All other domains are refreshed every month, which catches dealers that close, merge or change brands.
Check it yourself
Look up any dealer or marketplace with the domain category checker to see its labels.
How to get the full automotive list
Choose subcategories
All automotive, or only dealers, repair, parts, rentals, insurance or motorcycles.
Pick markets
One country, a region or worldwide, using country field and ending.
Set the boundary
IAB Automotive only, or add the wider Automotive & Transportation tag.
Download
CSV, Parquet or JSON, refreshed monthly, with a lookup API for single checks.

Can I target electric vehicle websites?
Yes. The IAB Tier 3 category Green Vehicles under Auto Type marks electric and low-emission vehicle sites. Classic Cars, Luxury Cars and Performance Cars are also available at Tier 3.
Which countries have the most automotive websites?
By domain ending, .de leads among country domains with 317,725 domains tagged Automotive & Transportation, followed by .uk (132,498), .ru (105,994), .fr (74,128) and .nl (70,841).
What is the difference between Automotive and Automotive & Transportation?
Automotive is the IAB category for cars, motorcycles and everything around them. Automotive & Transportation is a wider filtering category that also includes shipping, logistics, public transport and transport tracking sites.
Are auto insurance sites included?
Yes. Auto Insurance is a Tier 2 group with 66,196 domains. Many of these sites also carry the Financial Services filtering category.
Can I get garages and repair shops only?
Yes. Auto Repair is the largest Tier 2 group with 495,025 domains. Combine it with a country filter for a workshop list in one market, or add Auto Parts for garages that also sell parts.
Are manufacturer country sites listed separately?
Yes. Each domain is its own row, so a carmaker's sites for different countries appear separately with their own country and popularity band. You can group them by brand in your own analysis.
Can I exclude marketplaces and keep only dealers?
Mostly, yes. Marketplaces sit in the top popularity bands and often carry the classifieds tag. Removing those rows leaves a list made up largely of dealers and dealer groups.
What format is the automotive list in?
A downloadable CSV file, with Parquet and JSON available, using the same columns as the full categorized database and refreshed monthly.
How do I buy the full automotive website list?
